NASCAR Pocono 2014: Start time, TV schedule for Pocono 400

Denny Hamlin hopes a poll win will push him to a victory in Long Pond.

Doug Pensinger

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series rolls on at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, where pole winner Denny Hamlin hopes to stay in the groove that earned him four wins at the raceway during his career. Hamlin set a lap record of 49.610 seconds on Friday while also creating a track record of 181.415 mph, and he hopes that will push him to another victory in Long Pond, Pa.

Hamlin twice won Pocono in 2006, took another victory in 2009 and again in 2010. Winning the pole should give him a solid shot at finding his old magic at the 2.5-mile “Tricky Triangle” this year, as six of the last 16 winners have been pole sitters. But Hamlin has struggled since the track was repaved following Hamlin’s last win at Pocono. He has crashed twice, including a 43rd-place finish in August of 2013.

Starting behind Hamlin for the the 160-lap, 400-mile race are Kurt Busch in second, Brad Keselowski in third, Kevin Harvick in fourth and Jeff Gordon in fifth.
