NASCAR Pocono 2014: Kasey Kahne upset with Kyle Busch

Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch had another run-in Sunday, and Kahne left no doubt who was at fault.

As a result of an encounter with a familiar antagonist, Kasey Kahne’s hard luck season continued Sunday at Pocono Raceway.

"That's just Kyle being Kyle. I had just passed him and he was probably pissed off because his car was slow."-Kasey Kahne

Kahne was running in the top 15 when contact with Kyle Busch, who was to the inside of Kahne, sent him into the wall 17 laps from the finish. The incident began just after Kahne passed Busch and was attempting to go around Ryan Newman entering Turn 1.

“I had just passed Kyle and I caught Newman,” Kahne said. “We were side-by-side so Kyle was able to get a good draft down the straightaway. We got to Turn 1 and I was on the outside and then he knew if he didn’t clear me there then I would pass him back because I just had.

“He just floored it and didn’t care there was someone out there and ran me right in the wall.”

Also involved was Carl Edwards, who rear-ended Kahne’s Chevrolet.

Sunday marked the fourth time Kahne and Busch have tangled within the past 13 months. Busch triggered accidents which sidelined Kahne at Daytona, Talladega and Darlington a year ago, something the Hendrick Motorsports driver hasn’t forgotten.

“That’s just Kyle being Kyle,” Kahne told NASCAR.com. “I had just passed him and he was probably pissed off because his car was slow.”

Kahne entered Pocono in the midst of a trying season, winless and 18th in the Sprint Cup standings. He finished 42nd Sunday and fell to 21st in points.

Busch finished 12th, leaving the track without comment.
