NASCAR shifts to the midwest this weekend, with the Sprint Cup Series in Michigan and the Nationwide Series in Ohio. The Pure Michigan 400 is the marquee event of the weekend, with the 23rd Sprint Series race of the season taking place in Brooklyn, Mich., where Jimmie Johnson and Joey Logano try to make a move on the Chase.
NASCAR Michigan 2014 schedule: Sprint Cup Series returns to Michigan
Jimmie Johnson seeks his second win at Michigan International Speedway this season with the Pure Michigan 400 in Brooklyn, the 23rd race of the Sprint Cup Series 2014 season. The Nationwide Series hits a road course with the Children’s Hospital 200.


Logano, currently fifth place in the 2014 points standings and 102 points back of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., won the 2013 Pure Michigan 400. Johnson, currently in seventh place in points, won the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway in June.
Qualifying for the Pure Michigan 400 is Friday afternoon.
In the Nationwide Series, it’s road course racing with the Children’s Hospital 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington.
