NASCAR at Atlanta 2014: Chance of scattered weekend showers

Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway for both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series races. How bad will the rain

Showers and thunderstorms continue to be in the weather forecast for Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend. It appears our best chance of scattered showers and storms are later this afternoon and evening as we see an increase in moisture as well as a disturbance moving in over the region. It’s tough to know when and exactly where storms may form later today but they can’t be ruled out and while I think we can still race later tonight, storms could cause delays for practice and qualifying and even for the race. Odds we race tonight for the Nationwide series race is around 50 to 60 percent.

The forecast is looking a little drier for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. There remains a chance of scattered showers and storms again in the afternoon and evening but don’t look to be as numerous or widespread as they are expected later today. I am giving the odds of racing Sunday to be between 65 to 75 percent.
