Formula DRIFT at Texas Motor Speedway: Watch Round 6 live online

Formula Drift concludes its season Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Thananuwat Srirasant

Usually playing host to NASCAR and IndyCar races where getting sideways is less than ideal, Texas Motor Speedway will feature a different kind of motor sport Saturday. As the Formula Drift series visits TMS for its sixth and final event of 2014.

For those unfamiliar, drifting is where drivers maneuver cars at high speeds into controlled slides through a marked course. Each driver is judged by a three-person panel on execution, speed and style. In addition to single-car qualifying runs, there is also head-to-head competition between two drivers.

There are two classes in Formula Drift, both of which are racing at TMS. The highest level is Pro Championship featuring the best drifters from around the globe, while Pro 2 is more of an intermediary division between the national class and pro-am competitions.

Live coverage of “Showdown” from TMS can streamed at www.formulad.com/live. NBC Sports will air a tape-delayed broadcast Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. ET.
