NASCAR New Hampshire 2014: Lineup, starting grid for Sylvania 300

The Chase is on at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Sylvania 300, where Brad Keselowski tries to continue his dominant run to kick off the 2014 NASCAR playoffs from the pole position.

Although next week’s race in Dover will be the final chance for Chase hopefuls to make their move into the “Challenger” round, Sunday’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s “Miracle Mile” may serve as their best chance to make a splash.

And nobody in racing makes a bigger splash than Brad Keselowski. With his fifth pole of the year, he’ll hope to continue his two-race win streak. Or at the very least, use his prominent position in the starting grid to help shepherd his Penske Racing teammate Joey Logano to the next level.

Of course, despite his dominance, because points reset following each leg, Keselowski isn’t comfortable with he is quite yet. As he told the Associated Press,“It’s positive momentum, but when it resets it resets and nothing that you’ve done in the past really matters as long as you’re eligible for the bracket. I’m a long, long ways from using the word favorite or feeling overly confident.”

While confidence has never been an issue for Keselowski, it’s clear to see, given the way starting grid looks, why he’s only cautiously optimistic. After Jamie McMurray -- who did not make the Chase -- starting in second, Chase drivers take up the next seven spots: Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, Carl Edwards and Ryan Newman.

They are joined by Ryan Newman and RCR teammates Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon in 11th through 13th. Right behind them are Kurt Busch (15th), Matt Kenseth (16th) and Kasey Kahne (17th). Rounding out the Chasers are Aric Almirola and Greg Biffle, who start 22nd and 26th respectively.
