NASCAR at Richmond 2014 Race day weather foreacst: Waiting on rain

Weather foreast remains unchanged for tonight’s Federated Auto Parts 400 Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Speedway. The question when will the rain arrive?

The weather forecast for tonight’s Federated Auto Parts 400 Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway has a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening but appears we should get most if not all of the race complete. Cold front arrives later tonight, after midnight, acrosss the Richmond metro area. While the main front doesn’t arrive until late, isolated to scattered storms, like we’ve seen the past couple days, could fire later this afternoon and evening.

Anytime there’s scattered to isolated showers and storms in the forecast, it is nearly impossible to know exactly when and where this activity will fire up. Late afternoon into early evening storms and showers could pop up, but we also have a chance of missing the activity as well. I give the odds of racing tonight’s Sprint Cup race between 60 to 70 percent. We will monitor radar through the afternoon and evening and keep you updated.
