NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch successfully underwent surgery to remove a rod, metal plates and screws from his right leg and left foot on Thursday.
Kyle Busch undergoes successful leg, foot surgery
The Sprint Cup champion is expected to be ready for the February season-opener at Daytona.

Joe Gibbs Racing said Busch is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2016 season, which begins with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 21 at Daytona International Speedway. But Busch told reporters last month he may not have full mobility of his right leg, though it would not hinder his performance.
Busch suffered a broken leg and foot when he crashed into an unprotected concrete wall during the February Xfinity Series Daytona race held the day prior to the season-opening Daytona 500.
Despite missing the first 11 Sprint Cup races rehabilitating, he earned a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup playoff by winning four times over a five-week span after returning in mid-May. The 30-year-old claimed his first series championship by winning the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Busch is the second JGR driver to undergo an offseason operation, joining Denny Hamlin, who underwent right knee surgery on Nov. 30 after tearing his ACL playing basketball in early September. Hamlin is also expected to be ready for the start of the 2016 season.
