Kyle Larson is awake, alert and feeling “fine” after fainting earlier in the day at Martinsville Speedway, but is awaiting consultation with a neurologist Saturday night.
Kyle Larson taken to hospital after fainting
The 22-year-old driver was signing autographs when he collapsed Saturday afternoon.

Larson was taking part in an afternoon autograph session when he collapsed. The 22-year-old driver for Chip Ganassi Racing was then taken to Martinsville Memorial Hospital for precautionary reasons and to undergo a further evaluation.
Doctors determined Larson was fine, but recommended seeing a neurologist, which the hospital did not have available. Larson traveled to Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. where he is awaiting further results.
“After evaluating him, doctors at Martinsville Memorial Hospital felt that everything checked out well for Kyle Larson, however, just to be safe, they felt he should also be evaluated by a neurologist” said a Ganassi statement. “Martinsville Memorial Hospital did not have one available so they decided to have Larson make the short trip to Carolina’s Medical Center (CMC) in Charlotte to be evaluated by one. Larson arrived late this evening to Charlotte, feels fine and is just awaiting a final evaluation at CMC which we hope to have the results of later this evening.”
Larson, the 2014 Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year, qualified seventh for Sunday’s STP 500. Although he plans to race, NASCAR first needs to medically clear him.
