Dale Earnhardt Jr. builds treehouse that’s no ordinary treehouse

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s new treehouse is exactly what you would expect.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is near completion of building a treehouse in his backyard, though this isn’t just some ordinary treehouse. No, NASCAR’s most popular driver is constructing something far more elaborate.

Inspired by the Animal Planet TV show Treehouse Masters -- which designs and builds sophisticated treehouses complete with electricity and running water -- Earnhardt visited the website of program host Pete Nelson and paid $100 for a blueprint to construct himself.

The almost finished project is quite impressive and usable year-round, Earnhardt told Hendrick Motorsports. He and girlfriend Amy Reimann shared some photos of the new treehouse on social media. And judging by the images, it appears more akin to staying in a five-star resort than a treehouse you remember from your childhood.

“It’ll be in good shape,” Earnhardt said. “We’re not going to let any critters get in there. It’ll be sealed, doors will seal, all the windows will seal.

“It’s good, tried-and-true, and it’s not going to fall out of the tree.”
