NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, wife welcome baby boy

Brexton Locke Busch was born Monday night.

Matthew O’Haren-USA TODAY Sports

Kyle Busch’s wife, Samantha, delivered the couple’s first child at 9:45 p.m. ET Monday. Brexton Locke Busch weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 21 inches long.

Both mom and son are “doing great!” Kyle said in a Twitter post showing Samantha holding Brexten while Kyle kissed his wife’s forehead.

The couple has been public about their struggle to conceive. Samantha spoke publicly throughout her pregnancy about utilizing in vitro fertilization, and kept a blog sharing intimate details.

The birth of his son comes just days after Kyle returned from injuries sustained in February during the Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway. He crashed into an unprotected concrete wall breaking his right leg and left foot. While recovering, Kyle missed the first 11 races of the 2015 season, making his comeback last Saturday night in the All-Star Race. He finished sixth.

Kyle had Erik Jones, who filled in one race during Kyle’s absence, on standby in case he wasn’t physically ready to compete, or if Samantha went into labor.
