Ford unveiled its redesigned body for the Fusion the automaker uses in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, one day before its initial test and a little more than a month before the season-opening Daytona 500.

The carmaker is rolling out a more “aggressive looking” model for the coming season.

The third such body change the Fusion has undertaken was introduced Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and mirror the not-yet-released 2017 Fusion production model.
Ford executives describe the Fusion as appearing more “aggressive looking.” Aesthetically, the most notably change is a more rounded front grille. Brad Keselowski of Team Penske will shakedown the modified car during a two-day Goodyear tire test Tuesday and Wednesday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Debuting in 2006, the Fusion has won 71 Cup Series since, including 21 the past two seasons and four of the past seven Daytona 500s. Ford is seeking to end Chevrolet’s streak of 13-consecutive Manufacturers’ Championships.
“There’s no mistaking we’re here to win races and championships,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance, said in a statement. “And we believe the new NASCAR Fusion will be a powerful tool in the hands of our teams and drivers.”
