NASCAR at Dover International Speedway 2016 weekend weather forecast: Slowly drying out

Less wet, that’s the weather forecast at Dover International Speedway the rest of the weekend. Few showers are likely Saturday and maybe a few lingering Sunday but weather does slowly dry out.

Rain washed out many of the activities at Dover International Speedway on Friday and the same upper level storm system across the Ohio River Valley will continue to keep rain chances around through part of the weekend.

The storm system will slowly work its way to the north-northeast through the weekend. As it does so, spokes of energy will spin around the storm. This will lead to chances of rain, especially Saturday morning. Drier air will try to work into the region later Saturday afternoon. While not totally dry, it will be drier later in the day Saturday for the NASCAR Xfinity race.

It’s hard to pinpoint timing of any showers Saturday but the odds of racing the NASCAR Xfinity race Saturday are around 60 percent. Not impossible to race, but it could come down to timing of any rain and there could be delays.

The driest day of the weekend is still Sunday. While there is a small chance of a few showers during the afternoon, I give the odds of racing the “Citizen Soldier 400” Sprint Cup race to be around 80 percent.
