A weekend that is supposed to be a celebration got off to a rough for the retiring Tony Stewart when he had his cell phone stolen Thursday night.
Tony Stewart has cell phone stolen on eve of NASCAR retirement
Stewart was pickpocketed while at a carnival with his girlfriend.

Stewart and his girlfriend were at a carnival near Homestead-Miami Speedway, the site of Sunday’s NASCAR season-ending race, when a group “accidentally” bumped into Stewart. Shortly afterwards, he noticed his phone was no longer in his pocket, then realized the group that bumped into him had taken off with it.
Stewart (who is retiring after 18 seasons as a NASCAR driver) and his girlfriend attempted to chase down the thieves, but to no avail. He believes the thieves hopped into a car and took off.
“It was kind of fun because they have that Find My iPhone app, and we went chasing people forever trying to find it,” Stewart said Friday. “Until we realized they were in the parking lot and they got in the car and they were gone.
“I hit block on it and deleted it (the data), and now I’ve got to get a new phone.”
Like many people, Stewart said he does “everything off of my cell phone” and described losing it as “devastating.” He hopes to have a new phone by Saturday.
”My life is on that cell phone, so I start my life over tomorrow.
“So I’m sure when I turn it on it’s going to be absolutely crazy when I turn it back on.”
