Clint Bowyer and NASCAR team owner Harry Scott Jr. have settled Bowyer’s lawsuit against HScott Motorsports, both parties announced in a joint statement on Thursday.
Clint Bowyer, HScott Motorsports settle lawsuit
Clint Bowyer and Harry Scott Jr. reached an amicable settlement in the lawsuit Bowyer filed last month.

Bowyer filed a $2.2 million lawsuit on Nov. 21 alleging Scott missed scheduled payments totaling $1.2 million and owed him $1 million for sponsorship Bowyer brought to the team from Michael Waltrip Racing, his employer from 2012-15.
The lawsuit ended amicably, Bowyer and Scott said, but the terms of the settlement were undisclosed.
“Mr. Scott provided additional information to Mr. Bowyer, of which he was not aware, which satisfied him that the claims asserted against Mr. Scott should be dismissed,” the statement said. “[Bowyer] and HScott Motorsports then reached a mutual and amicable confidential settlement as to the claims for the debt owed to [Bowyer].”
Bowyer joined HSM for the 2016 season as a one-year bridge before moving to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2017 to replace Tony Stewart, who retired. HSM has not finalized its plans for next season but has no drivers under contract nor any sponsorship in place.
“I am glad our race team and Clint Bowyer Racing were able to reach a quick resolution,” Scott said. “I wish Clint the best of luck in his career moving forward.”
