Friday at Richmond International Raceway featured NASCAR’s first big weather related cancellation of the season, with practices and qualifying both rained out. While there’s a chance of rain for Saturday and the Xfinity Series race, it doesn’t look as wet.
2016 NASCAR at Richmond weekend weather forecast: Slowly improving
Mother Nature brought NASCAR its first major cancellations of the season, raining out Xfinity Series Practice and Sprint Cup Qualifying. As NASCAR goes through the rest of the Richmond International Raceway weekend, how will Mother Nature behave?
A weak disturbance behind the front that moved through Friday will be the culprit for more rain chances on Saturday. It’s looking more like the timing of Saturday’s rain could be sometime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET. I know that would put a chance of rain during the Xfinity Series heats and race. While the threat is there, I still give the odds of racing on Saturday between 75 to 85 percent. Any showers should be quick and more broken and scattered in nature, but a shower or two is still possible.
For Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 the weather will be picture perfect with no threat of rain ...
