The forecast for the Geico 500 at Talladega Sunday remains as uncertain as it did earlier in the week. What we know is that a front is expected to move into Alabama on Sunday and eventually stall. This front will bring areas of showers and thunderstorms to wherever it stalls. The big questions that remain are, where does this front stall and how much rain and moisture will be with it during the day?
NASCAR at Talladega 2016: Weather forecast remains very complicated
There are a lot more questions than there are answers when it comes to the Sprint Cup Geico 500 at Talladega Super Speedway. It looks like we will see rain on Sunday, but questions still remain: when and for how long?

Best case scenario, the front stalls either well to the west and north of the track, or even better, to the south of the track, keeping most of the moisture and rain away from Talladega Superspeedway. This would give us enough rain free time.
Worst case is the front stalling right on top of the track and keeping rain showers and storms off and on all day long. This would limit the amount of dry time and possibly create a situation where the race would be rained out and postponed until Monday. There are a few computer models that are showing this scenario.
DO I THINK WE RACE SUNDAY?
My odds of racing Sunday remain the same. There’s a 65 percent chance we race and get to halfway, making it official. I am going with about a 50 percent chance of seeing a complete race. This is due mainly to all the uncertainty on the location of the front on Sunday.
WILL THERE BE DELAYS?
It seems very likely, given the current forecast. Whether it be the start of the race or during, a shower or storm is possible.
WILL WE RACE MONDAY?
I am staying cautiously optimistic that we can see some racing on Sunday and hopefully get at least an official race, if not further. There is a possibility that if the front stalls close enough to the track or over it, it could be an all-day rain ...
