2016 NASCAR at the Brickyard weather: Hot and humid weekend forecast

The weather forecast remains mostly unchanged for the NASCAR weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400. It remains oppressively hot for both Saturday and Sunday. A heat advisory is still in effect for the Indianapolis area until 8 pm Saturday evening. The combination of daytime highs in the middle 90s and dew points getting into the middle 70s means the heat index at times will be around 105 to 110. This puts a lot of stress on the body, so staying hydrated and cool will be a must for fans at the track this weekend. Water is critical. Seek shade and wear lightweight light-colored clothes out at the track.

Some good news in the weather forecast, the threat of rain is less than what it was. Saturday could be mostly dry, but going to leave the mention of an isolated shower or storm in the afternoon and evening. Will monitor radar for any possible impacts to the Xfinity race.

For Sunday’s Brickyard 400 Sprint Cup race, it will remain hot and humid but we will also have a chance of a shower or thunderstorm. The threat on Sunday is still relatively low but if a storm or two does pop up it could cause a delay. Have improved the odds of racing a full race Sunday to between 80 and 85 percent. Not ruling out a storm but it looks more dry than wet.
