Martin Truex Jr. was fastest in qualifying Friday and will lead the field in Sunday’s Pennsylvania 400 at Pocono Raceway.

The pole was Truex’s third of 2016 and he will share the front row with quasi-teammate Carl Edwards. Truex’s Furniture Row Racing team is an affiliate of Edwards’ Joe Gibbs Racing team, which also fields Toyotas for defending Sprint Cup champion Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth.

Paul Menard qualified third, followed by Hamlin and Ryan Newman. Completing the top 10 were Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, rookie Chase Elliott, defending race-winner Kenseth and Joey Logano.

“Getting a pole today is awesome,” Truex said. “We had a game plan coming here that we felt like we needed to qualify well to have a shot at winning on Sunday and we were able to do so today was a success.”

Toyota’s front row sweep is a continuation of its season-long dominance, which has seen the carmaker win a series-best 10 of 20 races -- including the Daytona 500 (Hamlin) and Brickyard 400 (Busch), the sport’s two marquee events. Truex is also driving the same chassis this weekend he used when leading a NASCAR-record 392 of 400 laps in winning in May at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“Maybe it has a little magic in it,” Truex said. “We’ll find out come Sunday I suppose if we can lead almost every lap. We’ll see what happens.”
