NASCAR at Michigan weekend weather forecast 2016: Not a wash

Showers and storms will work into Michigan International Speedway Saturday afternoon and possibly Sunday morning but will this be another washed out weekend for NASCAR?

A storm system coming out of the Central Plains will work into southern Michigan Saturday afternoon and night. Ahead of this system there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms. This looks like this will be a problem for the Camping World Truck Series race Saturday afternoon. This is also the same system that is bringing rain to Road America for Saturday’s Xfinity series race. The rain in Wisconsin for the Xfinity Race will diminish as the race goes on this afternoon.

While there is a small chance of a passing shower Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, most of the activity will take place in the morning. A cold front will swing across the region overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. By midday most of the activity associated with the front should have passed leaving the afternoon mostly dry for the Pure Michigan 400 Sprint Cup race. Odds of racing Sunday’s Sprint Cup race are 90 percent.
