NASCAR’s most popular driver isn’t ready to retire anytime soon, but Dale Earnhardt Jr. admits that if he were to win a first-ever Cup Series championship, walking away on top would be an ideal way to culminate his career.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.: ‘Hell yeah,’ I’d retire if I won the NASCAR championship
When he may retire was among several topics Earnhardt discussed during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.

Earnhardt appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday and when Patrick asked what he would do if he were to win the championship, Earnhardt replied: “If I won the championship, I’d retire on the stage in Vegas. Hell yeah.”
When Patrick asked if he would really retire, Earnhardt said: “Probably. Wouldn’t it be the best way to go out on top?”
Other topics Earnhardt discussed during his appearance on Patrick’s radio program (also simulcast on NBCSN) include: His recovery from a concussion that sidelined him for the entire second half of the 2016 season and jeopardized his career, how long his father would’ve continued racing had he not been killed on the final lap of the 2001 Daytona 500, his affinity for the Washington NFL franchise, his recent marriage, and Sunday’s season-opening Daytona 500. Earnhardt was also joined by his wife, Amy, and the two played a version of “The Newlywed Game.”
