The 2017 NASCAR All-Star Race is Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but to determine the final four spots in that event, we have the Monster Energy Open race to start things off on Saturday.

Television coverage for the Open race kicks off at 6 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1, with the green flag expected to drop at 6:20 p.m.

Mike Joy will call the play-by-play for the race, as he will for the All-Star Race beginning at 8 p.m., and will be joined in the booth by Darrell Waltrip, Jeff Gordon, and Larry McReynolds. Online streaming of the race is available through Fox Sports Go.

The 50-lap Open race will be run in three stages — 20, 20, and 10 laps, with the winner of each stage joining the All-Star Race later on Saturday night. A fourth berth in the All-Star Race will be determined by fan vote, giving the main event a total of 20 drivers.

The 16 drivers who already qualified for spots in the All-Star Race are led by pole-sitter Kyle Larson, capturing his third pole position of the 2017 season.
