Forecasting for the NASCAR Monster Energy Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway is a challenge. There seems to always be a threat of rain Memorial Day weekend. Even more complicated is when the storms are scattered in nature. What does that mean?
NASCAR race day weather Coca-Cola 600: Scattered chance of showers and storms
Scattered thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening could have an impact on the Coca-Cola 600.

Predicting how scattered the storms will be is challenging. It can be like dropping marbles onto a checkered floor and trying to predict on which square each marble will land. That’s the challenge meteorologists have detecting how scattered storms will impact a single point or, in this case, a race track.
The threat of rain increases between 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon and continues until about 7 p.m. in the evening. A few passing showers and storms are likely up to and slightly after the scheduled start of around 6 p.m. EDT. It is possible the start of the Coke 600 is delayed due to weather. While storms are possible, I do anticipate racing Sunday night in Charlotte.
Odds of racing the Monster Energy Coca-Cola 600 are 85 percent with possible delays.
