Kevin Harvick’s crew chief, Rodney Childers, was fined $10,000 by NASCAR on Wednesday for an improperly secured lug nut on Harvick’s car following Sunday night’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Officials discovered the infraction during the mandatory inspection of wheels that occurs after every Monster Energy Cup Series race. Harvick started on the pole, led 45 laps, and finished eighth in the Coca-Cola 600, which moved him up two spots in the points standings to fourth.

NASCAR did not issue any additional penalties to the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing team, and Childers will not have to sit out this weekend’s race at Dover International Speedway. Childers served a one-race suspension in April after Harvick’s car was found to have an unapproved track bar slider assembly.

Under a revised policy enacted last fall, a crew chief is no longer automatically suspended a race if the car has a single missing or unsecured lug nut. The amended rule states a crew chief will only be suspended once if the car has 18 or fewer of 20 lugs properly fastened.
