NBA Draft Rumors: Cavaliers May Explore Trade To Get No. 2 Pick, According To Report

The 2012 NBA Draft is less than a week away, so there will likely be a number of rumors to hit the airwaves. The latest one suggests that the Cleveland Cavaliers, who own the No. 4 and No. 24 picks in the first round, may look to move up to the No. 2 pick, currently owned by the Charlotte Bobcats. Via Sports Illustrated's Sam Amick.

As Charlotte continues to ponder its decision at No. 2, numerous executives expect the Bobcats to be approached by Cleveland (No. 4) about the possibility of swapping picks (if it hasn't happened already) in order for the Cavaliers to land Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Why would the Cavaliers move up? The likelihood of Beal being available with their own No. 4 pick may be slim. The Washington Wizards, who pick at No. 3, just completed a deal to land Trevor Ariza, making it more likely that they draft Beal to fill a hole at shooting guard and provide much-needed perimeter shooting. If the Cavaliers decide they desperately need to draft Beal, trading up may be the only way it happens. On the other hand, Amick reports that star Kyrie Irving would like to see the Cavaliers draft Harrison Barnes, and they could also take Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
