NBA Trade Rumors: Bobcats Looking To Package Tyrus Thomas With No. 2 Pick

The Charlotte Bobcats have the second overall pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft and, considering Anthony Davis is going to New Orleans with the top selection, No. 2 is where things are expected to get exciting. Charlotte has quite a few positions of need, obviously, but the latest rumors indicate that they're willing to trade the pick.

Michael Jordan's team of experts have already made one trade this week, but the Washington Post is reporting that the Bobcats are interested in making more deals ... as long as they're able to package an underachieving Tyrus Thomas with their top pick, anyway.

According to multiple sources, the Bobcats are trying to convince teams interested in the second pick to also take back disappointing power forward Tyrus Thomas, who has more than $26 million remaining on his contract. Thomas is coming off the worst season since his rookie year as he averaged just 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds.

When asked if teams would be willing to touch Thomas, one Western Conference executive said, “I don’t think so.”

Considering it sounds like that might not work out as well as the Bobcats brain trust is hoping, there’s apparently one other option on the table the team is considering:

For those not familiar with this situation, it'd essentially be Michael Jordan finding the people in charge of creating the Monstars in Space Jam and then having them mix the talents of Thomas Robinson, Harrison Barnes, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Bradley Beal into one super player.

It’s currently unclear whether the Bobcats have a better chance of convincing a team to take on Tyrus Thomas or creating Thomisson Kidd-Bealchrist in time for Thursday night’s draft.
