NBA Draft Rumors: Timberwolves Offered Derrick Williams For No. 2 Pick, Trade Rejected

Do you remember back in elementary school when you got a king-sized candy bar in your lunch bag by surprise, and some kid at your lunch table attempted to trade you a couple of fun-sized candy bars and some Tootsie Rolls for that candy bar? Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn is that guy.

The jury's still out on who the Charlotte Bobcats are going to select with the No. 2 pick in the draft, but they obviously like their options enough that they're not interested in a straight swap with the Timberwolves for forward Derrick Williams.

Williams was the second overall pick in last year's draft and only managed to score 8.8 points per game playing with Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love. He had a small handful of games in which he looked like he had a chance to fulfill his promise, but given his inconsistency last season, it's not surprising that Charlotte would rather roll the dice with the players in this year's draft.
