As an NBA fan, I’m not sure which of the following statements is scarier. First, there’s NBA Players Union President Billy Hunter:
Who Cares About The NBA Lockout? Dwight Howard Has A Children’s CD Coming Soon
"If the owners maintain their position it will inevitably result in a lockout."
And then there’s David Stern:
"We know we're going to get an agreement done."
I mean... Stern’s confidence somehow seems more foreboding than Hunter’s dissent. Stern doesn’t say how or when the agreement will come—just that he “knows” it will get done. That doesn’t sound like someone who’s ready to budge, does it? But whatever. Now’s not the time for serious business talk and debates about revenue sharing.
Dwight Howard has just the antidote. It's a children's album called Shoot For The Stars, and I swear to God, it's even better and more ridiculous than it sounds. After the jump, we'll run down some of the songs Dwight Howard samples.
Listen to the sample tracks on Amazon. It will brighten your day.
There’s Smashmouth, “All-Star”
“Get This Party Started” by Pink
“Let’s Get It Started” by Black Eyed Peas
Bob Marley “Jammin”
MC Hammer “Can’t Touch This”
Michael Jackson, “Will You Be There”
If you ever wondered what it would sound like for an athlete to sample the Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Smashmouth, Bob Marley, Smashmouth, Michael Jackson, and MC Hammer, then you’re in luck! It’s completely shameless. He covers the Free Willy song for God’s sake!
I don’t even know what to say. He’s basically singing along to a seventh grader’s iPod, and releasing it as an album, just because he can. Add this to the list of Ways To Be More Awesome.
If this is the stuff that we can expect during next year’s lockout, then frankly, we’re headed in the right direction. Don’t budge, David Stern. Stand your ground, Billy Hunter. And rock on, Dwight.
