Unlike the man whom this post refers to...I have no words. Hollywood Reporter, take it away...
The Sun Never Sets On Colin Cowherd’s Empire
A project based on ESPN talk show host Colin Cowherd was picked up by [CBS].
His radio show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, is a syndicated program known for Cowherd’s obnoxious commentary that sometimes results in headline-making arguments with players and fans.
CBS, so sure in the belief that America wants, nay, needs a sitcom based on the life on an ESPN talking head, will ensure that there is never a moment in the day that you don’t have the option to listen to the voice of and look at the charming visage of Colin Cowherd.
As if there weren’t enough things in life to blame on the producers of Two & A Half Men, you can add this to the list a well. Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, you do too much. You really do.
So this of course begs the question...who will play “Colin Johnson” or whatever the main character will be called? You need someone a little older, a little (we assume) wiser. Someone who’s not afraid to mix things up, go against the grain and yet, deep down, has a heart of gold (also assumed). He’s a husband, a father, a company man...but that doesn’t stop him from cracking wise with (and demeaning the dead fathers of) the biggest sports stars in the world.
Disturbingly, the first person that pops into my head...Will Arnett. Arnett looks oddly similar, albeit slightly younger and emitting fifty kilowatts more humor and charisma than Cowherd. It also turns out...he’s available.
We remain, as always, not-so-optimistic.
