Stephon Marbury Predicts Doom For D’Antoni, Might Be Clairvoyant

...Okay, but we don’t know he’s NOT clairvoyant.

So when Stephon Marbury says that the Knicks will never get to the top of the mountain with Mike D’Antoni, maybe we should listen. It’s not like he’s over here sobbing into a camera and eating vaseline. Maybe Steph sees the future?

He certainly watches the Knicks, anyway. As he said of New York coach Mike D’Antoni:

“It’s just a matter of time. That’s all I got to stay about D’Antoni’s situation. It’s a matter of time. It’s a countdown now. He put a countdown on his head. Now [the fans] know we’re never going to win a championship like this. He doesn’t teach defense. He teaches offense. [The D’Antoni system] doesn’t work in New York. Not in the East.”

“You have to have a team that dives for balls and takes the 3 when nobody expects you to take the 3.”

Ah, if there’s one thing Marbury was good at, it was taking the three when nobody expected him to take the three. Making it? Not so much. But taking it... Say what you want, but Stephon Marbury knew how to pull-up from 25 feet with 18 seconds on the shot clock.

And just because it’s been too long since we wrote about Marbury, let’s relive some analysis from his past. Here he is talking about the Zach Randolph acquisition:

Anytime you can get a guy that can take a lay-up, shoot a free throw, make a college three, and make an NBA three at a crucial time in the game? Anytime they can do that, AND bring the ball up, and post up, shoot left hand, right hand... You got a great player. Kudos to Isiah Thomas.

Him and Eddy, they gon’ be frightened every night on the block. Those are our two go-to guys.

How we want to win a trophy if we want to win a championship? Everybody has to be plannin right now. This is when you start plannin. And for us, and for me, me tryin’ to be a leader of the team, it’s to try and convince them of a way how we can go steal the trophy.

People gon’ think I’m crazy, but if you believe it, then you can achieve it.

See... Maybe a little clairvoyant? Because people definitely thought he was crazy after that.

And my favorite part from the interview above...

“I shoot to win, because I shoot to win. And that’s it.” -- Stephon Marbury, philosopher

See, you can doubt his prophecy if you want, but for the record, he’s definitely right about Mike D’Antoni in New York. And with you or without you, Steph is going to get to the top of that mountain.
