With four minutes left in the third quarter, Kobe Bryant was called for a phantom technical foul, and neither I nor the Milwaukee announcers could figure out what it was for. Sadly, Corey Magette couldn’t convert the free throw, and the Bucks pathetic foul night continued.
Lakers Vs. Bucks: LA Slowly Opens Up Lead, 90-81
Rebounding was closely contested, but the Bucks committed six turnovers in the third quarter alone. The Lakers slowly built up a lead partly because they clamped down on defense, but also because they have shot 26 free throws. Kobe Bryant, though not having a stellar shooting night from outside, changed up his game to include the paint and as a result has made several trips to the line.
Corey Magette has made a huge impact off of the bench for the Bucks, with 13 points. He seems to be the only player from Milwaukee who can really penetrate to the basket and draw those fouls. Andrew Bogut continued to out-rebound just about everyone on the court, and he finished the third with 13 boards.
Brandon Jennings leads the Bucks with 24 points and five rebounds. Kobe Bryant leads everyone with 27 points and seven rebounds. Ron Artest is the only Laker starter NOT in double digits.
The Lakers out-shot the Bucks 58 percent to 38 percent in the third quarter.
