Celtics Vs. Cavaliers: Boston Slows Down The Game, Takes The Lead, 56-45

The Celtics were able to dictate the pace more in the 2nd quarter, and as a result pulled ahead. They slowed down significantly and Cleveland does not thrive on offense at that speed. The Celtics were able to create more fast break opportunities, and beat the Cavs at their own game. Shaq and Garnett were both able to break up plays inside on the defensive end and Rondo orchestrated the plays on the other side of the court with the confidence he has been exhibiting as of late. Pierce overcame his foul trouble to score seven points in the second quarter, including one of the Celtics' two three-pointers.

Anderson Varejao continued to provide offense inside for the Cavaliers. Being more nimble than his defender (Shaq), he was able to create shots. Outside shots weren't falling with any regularity in the second quarter, and bad passes forced unnecessary turnovers. They finished with nine in the half. Daniel Gibson came in off the bench and provided a boost to the offense, finishing the half with nine points to lead his team.
