The Portland Trail Blazers have announced guard Brandon Roy will be “sidelined indefinitely” due to his sore knees. He’s missed two spans of games this season and much of last season with knee injuries. From GM Rich Cho:
Brandon Roy Knee Injury To Sideline Blazers Guard Indefinitely
Unfortunately, Brandon Roy’s condition has not significantly improved and we’ve decided to hold him out indefinitely,” said Cho. “In the short term, we’re going to proceed with an extended period of rest. Beyond that, we’re looking at all available treatment options to help better determine a course of action.
Roy has been in pain all season, and earlier this month convinced coach Nate McMillan to let him play more than 35 minutes per game.
The Blazers have been listing Roy as day-to-day in recent days, so at least this announcement provides a sliver of closure, though of course it’s hard to know what to make of “indefinitely.”
