Nuggets Vs. Lakers: Ron Artest Leads All Scorers, Denver Takes Early lead

Ron Artest is pacing the Los Angeles Lakers all scorers, but the Denver Nuggets hold a 25-22 advantage after the first quarter. The Nuggets used a balanced scoring attack and good ball movement in the first, assisting on six of nine field goals. Carmelo Anthony leads the way with nine points on just 2-8 shooting.

For the Lakers, it’s been a heavy dose of Artest. His nine points easily leads the team, with Pau Gasol adding five points in nine minutes. Kobe Bryant couldn’t get anything going in the first, hitting just one of three shots for two points. Gasol also added four rebounds.

Aaron Afflalo had six points in the first for the Nuggets and Chauncey Billups chipped-in another five. Anthony also led the way on the rest of the stat sheet with four rebounds and two assists in the first frame.

After one quarter of play, it’s the Nuggets on top of the Lakers, 25-22
