Devin Harris To The Blazers Focus Of Latest Nets Trade Rumors

Devin Harris is the focus of a potential trade between the Portland Trail Blazers and New Jersey Nets, according to Al Iannazzone of the Bergen Record. Iannazzone reports that the teams are discussing a deal that would make Harris Portland's new point guard while veteran Andre Miller, who has an expiring contact, would be headed to the Nets. Other players, including possibly Travis Outlaw, Rudy Fernandez, Joel Przybilla and Anthony Morrow, could be involved.

Harris was seen as one of the centerpiece's of the Nets' franchise over the last few seasons, but he's been a disappointment of late. His name pops up in Carmelo Anthony trade rumors whenever the Nets find themselves in the middle of the Denver Nuggets' drama, and Iannazzone reports that it's unclear whether a 'Melo trade would preclude or prevent a Harris deal with Portland. In January, when Nets-Carmelo rumors were at their heaviest, reports suggested Denver could flip the point guard to Portland.

The Blazers are in the throes of a wild playoff chase with the Nuggets and three other teams, with four spots available. Miller has played well, but as star wing Brandon Roy returns to the fold after double knee surgery in January, the old issues of a lack of on-court compatibility between the pair figures to crop up. Whether Harris would be content to allow Roy to control the ball remains to be seen.
