Troy Murphy will be traded to the Golden State Warriors once Carmelo Anthony's future is resolved, reports Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle. Murphy, a former Golden State power forward on an expiring contract who doesn't play for the New Jersey Nets and has been involved in myriad NBA trade rumors, would apparently go to the Warriors whether 'Melo agrees to sign an extension with the Nets or not. If Anthony does, Murphy's expiring deal would be conferred to Golden State in a multi-team deal. Otherwise, the Nets would apparently send Murphy to Golden State for smaller expiring contracts such as Dan Gadzuric and Vladimir Radmanovic.

The Warriors, hoping to continue to improve upon a 25-29 record, need rebounding help. Murphy has long been an excellent defensive rebounder, but Nets coach Avery Johnson hasn't found much use for him in a frontcourt lined with Brook Lopez, Derrick Favors and Kris Humphries.
Murphy spent the first 5-1/2 seasons of his NBA career with the Warriors before being included in a trade that brought Stephen Jackson to Golden State. Murphy was sent to New Jersey in a multi-team trade last offseason that included Trevor Ariza, Courtney Lee and Darren Collison.
