Mike Miller Could Be Traded By Miami Heat, According To Report

The Miami Heat have largely avoided being mentioned in NBA trade rumors thanks to having three huge stars -- LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh -- the team simply wouldn't want to give up. Beyond the three stars, few Heat players make more than the minimum salary, and players making the minimum salary aren't useful in trades. But Mike Miller, the sharpshooter the Heat signed as a perimeter ballast for the team's star, makes enough to be useful in trades. ESPN.com's Brian Windhorst reports that Miami is indeed shopping Miller.

Whether anyone would give Miami what they need -- a point guard better than Mario Chalmers or a center better than Erick Dampier -- for Miller's contract is doubtful. Miller, 31, signed a five-year, $29 million over the summer. He remains a great shooter and surprisingly awesome rebounder. But the mid-level exception, essentially, for those skills is a bit much, and a team would have to be very desperate for shooting to accede to a trade.

Windhorst reports that the Heat remain more likely to wait for the NBA trade deadline to pass and try to land a player bought out by his team. Few solid point guards have been mentioned as potential buy-out candidates.
