Agent Denies Ron Artest Asked For Trade From Lakers

Despite being in the second year of a five-year contract that still has more than $28 million remaining on it, Ron Artest is apparently asking to be traded from the Lakers.

I say apparently because Ron’s agent wants to set the record straight and let you know that is simply not true:

“Ron is not looking for a trade,” (David) Bauman said. “The frustration is there among everyone on the team. But Ron is a Laker, and he just wants to win. Ron is frustrated with the losing, as everybody is.“The original report did stress that Artest was still open to a future with the Lakers, so this might just be as overblown as his agent says. Then again, this is Ron Artest we’re talking about.

Artest’s teammate Kobe Bryant also cast aspersions on the trade talks, telling the Los Angeles Times he doesn’t put stock in anonymous sources, and FanHouse’s Sam Amick reported that a source said the Lakers expect Ron-Ron to be with the team through at least the end of the season.

Keep an eye on Silver Screen And Roll as news develops.
