The Boston Celtics shrunk down to their competition for roughly the 20th time this year in losing 94-89 to the Charlotte Bobcats. That’s an exaggeration -- the Celtics have only lost to inferior teams a couple times this season -- but when you consider that if the Celtics beat obviously worse teams like the Bobcats they’d be hangin’ out with the Spurs, it stands out.

Ray Allen scored 25 points and hit two three-pointers. He remains one made three from tying Reggie Miller atop the all-time leaderboard and, obviously, two away from taking the record as his own. For what it’s worth, Allen took just two three-pointers all game; the opposite of a glory hound, Allen played within what the Bobcats defense gave him, and it resulted in a good night.
The Boston frontcourt, however, did not have a good night. Kevin Garnett had just nine points to go with 14 rebounds, and Kendrick Perkins scored just eight. Glen Davis came off the bench to shoot 1-5. With Semih Erden and Shaquille O’Neal out, the C’s needed more up front on offense.
Gerald Wallace led the Bobcats with 19 points and 16 rebounds, and Shaun Livingston (!) came off the bench for 18. Kwame Brown shot 1-9, but he did have 12 rebounds. It’s official: Charles Oakley has taught Kwame Brown how to rebound.
