Building on their three-point lead from the first quarter, the New York Knicks entered halftime with a 14-point lead over the Boston Celtics, 51-37. For roughly the first four-and-one-half minutes of the second quarter, the Knicks held the Celtics scoreless and added seven points to their lead.
Celtics Vs. Knicks Score: Carmelo Anthony Gives New York 51-37 Lead At Halftime
After leaving in the first quarter following two fouls, Carmelo Anthony returned in the second quarter and scored 12 points for 17 total at the half. He accomplished that on 7-of-12 shooting, helping the Knicks to a 48.7 shooting percentage at halftime. Amare Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups added 11 points and 10 points, respectively, the former pulling down six rebounds as well. Ronny Turiaf has played well on defense, blocking three shots.
The Celtics are shooting only 35 percent from the field and have no scorer in double digits. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce each have eight points, while Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo each added seven points. Their bench has added only four points in two quarters.
The Knicks look much better against the top team in the Eastern Conference than they did yesterday against the sub-.500 Bucks on Sunday.
