The Boston Celtics have hit a rough patch, with a 90-87 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies at the TD Banknorth Garden providing the latest tough. Boston's offense struggled, shooting just 42 percent from the floor, grabbing only four offensive rebounds in 36 opportunities and coughing up 20 turnovers in 95 possessions. Those are all poor marks, and 7-15 shooting from long-range nor solid defense on the Grizz could help.

Memphis is excellent at forcing turnovers, and Boston has had trouble hanging on to the ball since the team was reconstituted in 2007. But 20 turnovers in a regulation game is just too many for a team as great as the Celtics. Center Nenad Krstic was the biggest culprit, with four in 21 minutes. Rajon Rondo coughed it up four times, too.
The famous Boston defense did a solid job, with Kevin Garnett squelching Zach Randolph (13 points). The Grizzlies took just six three-pointers; humorously, of the 20 times this season a team has taken six or fewer threes in a game, that team has been the Grizzlies nine times. Randolph managed five big offensive rebounds, which helped the Grizzlies' offense squeeze out enough points to take advantage of Boston's bad night and come up with the improbable win.
