Jalen Rose has been sentenced to 20 days in jail stemming from a DUI arrest in Michigan last March.

Rose had plead guilty to the charge in May, telling a judge he had six martinis and a blood-alcohol level of 0.12, over the 0.88 legal limit in Michigan. However, Rose’s lawyer has spoken out against the charge. Via TMZ:
Davidson claimed that Rose’s clean criminal record should have been taken into account more before the punishment was made. He also suggested Rose was subject to “abuse and discretion” by the judge.

Admitting regret over the event, Rose went on to apologize to his family and his employer, ESPN. Rose was also a subject in a recent ESPN documentary that focused on Rose and his Fab Five teammates while members of the Michigan basketball team in the early 90s.
He also apologized to those who looked to him as a role model for what he termed a “lapse in judgment.” His court date is still scheduled for April 20, which he hopes will bring resolution to the situation.
