The Knicks began the fourth quarter going scoreless over the first four minutes and allowing the Memphis Grizzlies to cut a lead that ballooned to 17 points mid-way through the third quarter all the way down to six points. Promptly once threatened, New York responded with a five point spurt that pushed the lead back up to eleven. However, Memphis answered right back cutting the lead to just three points with just over one minute remaining in the game thanks to a couple of careless Knicks turnovers and some spirited play from Zach Randolph.
Knicks Vs. Grizzlies Final Score: Anthony Buzzer Beater Leads Knicks To 110-108 Victory
A wild sequence ensued as first a pass went between Mike Conley’s legs out-of-bounds giving New York back possession. Then Toney Douglas missed an off-balance jumper which was rebounded by the Grizzlies before being stolen by Carmelo Anthony. After running the shot clock down, Anthony missed a jumper and the Grizzlies had the ball with 21.7 remaining in the game. Mike Conley drove into the middle before dishing to Zach Randolph who laid the ball in while being fouled by Anthony. His free throw tied the game at 108-108. Not to be undone, the Knicks pushed the ball ahead and isolated Anthony on the wing who calmly drained a step back jumper with just 0.5 remaining on the clock. Jared Jeffries batted away a Memphis desperation lob to seal the victory.
Anthony finished with a game high 31 points including the game winner. Amare Stoudemire chipped in 26 points while Toney Douglas added 18. Tony Allen led the Grizzlies with 22 points while Zach Randolph and Mike Conley each had 20. Darrell Arthur came off the bench for Memphis to score 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
The Knicks won the game despite only attempting four free throws in the game. Conversely, Memphis was 33-35 from the line.
