WNBA Draft 2011 Results: Maya Moore Obvious No. 1, Lynx Load Up

You'll attempt to contain your surprise at Connecticut Huskies star Maya Moore being the first player off the board in the 2011 WNBA Draft. The first real surprise of the draft came when the New York Liberty took Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at No. 10 despite her standing as a second-round pick according to draftniks.

Australia's six-foot-eight Liz Cambage went No. 2 to the Tulsa Shock, with Gonzaga Bulldogs point guard Courtney Vandersloot going to the Chicago Sky at No. 3. Both of those picks were projected by just about everyone. Amber Harris at No. 4 to the Lynx was also a commonly assumed move. So yeah, the top of the WNBA Draft was pretty short on drama.

Later, the Lynx added Jessica Breland before dealing her to the Liberty, then picking Felicia Chester and Angel Robinson in the second. Pretty sure Minnesota drafted as many players as the NBA Southeast Division did last year. 2011 NCAA Tournament star Danielle Adams of Texas A&M lasted until pick No. 20, when the San Antonio Silver Stars selected the mighty defensive presence.
