Contrary to previous reports, the Atlanta Hawks have made a very competitive game of it against the Miami Heat. With just over five minutes left, Atlanta’s now down by only three points after trailing by as many as 22. They’ve also just secured a jump ball forced by a Josh Powell block of LeBron James. As I type this, Powell dunks to cut the lead to one.
Heat Vs. Hawks Score: Atlanta’s Bench Raising Fourth Quarter Comeback
The most surprising part, for those who haven’t kept up with many Hawks results this season: they’re doing it almost entirely with their second unit. Jeff Teague, Powell, Zaza Pachulia, Damien Wilkins, and others have played key minutes down the stretch as the team sits Josh Smith, Joe Johnson, and others. For seasoned Hawks observers, this makes all the sense in the world.
LeBron James, who’s still on the floor and fighting for playoff positioning, has scored 31 points and secured eight rebounds.
