The Los Angeles Lakers are skidding into the NBA playoffs, but a win on Tuesday night over the San Antonio Spurs would do wonders, both in a momentum and seeding sense. After one quarter of play in Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant is firing, the Lakers are scoring well and the Spurs are unable to get anything going, leading to a 24-15 L.A. lead.
Spurs Vs. Lakers Score: Kobe Bryant Gives Los Angeles Early Lead
The Spurs are making it easy, though, as Gregg Popovich rests his starters ahead of the playoffs. Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan all sat-out the first quarter, giving the Lakers all the opportunity they needed to jump out to an early lead. It appears Popovich will hold his starters out on Tuesday night before having them play in the team’s regular season finale. With the starters glued to the bench, Gary Neal and George Hill led the way with four points each.
Bryant had a game-high nine points in the first quarter while also grabbing three rebounds. Pau Gasol had five points and three rebounds to compliment Bryant as the two nearly outscored the Spurs by themselves. Derek Fisher and Andrew Bynum each had four points, with Fisher adding a team-high three assists.
