Andrew Bynum Knee Injury Aggravated During Lakers-Spurs Game

Andrew Bynum crumpled to the floor in a heap after taking a fall during Tuesday night’s Los Angeles Lakers game against the San Antonio Spurs. Bynum, who is already wearing a massive brace on his injured right knee, appeared to hyper-extend his knee while changing directions in the key on a San Antonio break. After going down awkwardly, Bynum stayed down, folding his arms across his knees and burying his head in disgust.

After staying down for more than a minute, even as play continued around him, Bynum was finally helped up and walked off the floor on his own power. With a trainer in tow, Bynum headed straight to the locker room for further examination and has yet to return to the bench.

With two games left and a playoff spot already locked up, the Lakers are simply playing for seeding, working to guarantee themselves the No. 2 seed. Bynum’s injury revives an age-old debate around playoff time as coaches weight resting starters vs. playing out the season.

We’ll keep you updated with the latest on Bynum as more becomes available. For Spurs coverage, check out Pounding The Rock. For more on the Lakers, visit Silver Screen And Roll and SB Nation Los Angeles.
