The things LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh are doing for the Miami Heat today are evidence that assembling the Big Three was probably not a bad idea. Through three quarters against the Philadelphia 76ers, the Heat have a 80-69 lead.
Heat Vs. 76ers Score: Miami Rolling After Extending Lead In Third Quarter
After allowing 31 points in a dismal first quarter, the Heat have clamped down on defense and shut down the Sixers. Philly has just 38 points since that first period, and despite shooting decent percentages both from the field and three-point range, can’t make up any ground.
That’s because the two of the Heat’s premier players have gone to their reliable slashing games to rack up fouls, free throws, and points. James and Bosh have 17 combined points on free throws alone, and have 20 and 19 points, respectively, for the game.
The best answer the Sixers have? Probably Elton Brand, who has 15 points, but just four since the first quarter. Miami’s zone has permitted the Heat to harass Brand with multiple defenders down low.
If Brand continues to struggle and no other Sixer steps up, expect a 1-0 series lead for Miami after this one.
