The Portland Trail Blazers jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap of the first day of NBA playoff action, nudging ahead of the Dallas Mavericks, 22-21. LaMarcus Aldridge took over for the Blazers, scoring a quick 11 points on 5-6 shooting to give the Blazers the early advantage on the road.
Mavericks Vs. Blazers Score: Dallas Leads After First Quarter
Dallas used a three-headed attack to keep pace as Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki and DeShawn Stevenson scored the bulk of the Mavs points. Kidd led the way with eight points, along with three assists and three rebounds, with Nowitzki adding six points to the mix. Stevenson had five points in six minutes, connecting on two of his three shots.
Andre Miller chipped in five points, but it was the Aldridge show early in Dallas. Outside of the two, it was slow-going for the Blazers, with Marcus Camby’s two points the only other contribution from the starters. Camby also grabbed six rebounds and dished-out three assists in the first 12 minutes, contributing in other facets of the game. Brandon Roy and Nicolas Batum each scored two points off the bench.
