Manu Ginobili Injury Will Keep Him Out Of Spurs’ Game 1 Vs. Grizzlies

Manu Ginobili will miss Game 1 of the San Antonio Spurs’ Western Conference Quarterfinals series with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to the Spurs. San Antonio News-Express writer Jeff McDonald was the first to tweet the news, with a pithy “No Manu today.” McDonald also noted that Ginobili isn’t sitting for lack of desire.

Did Manu try to talk Pop into playing him? Pop: “You know damn well he did.”

Talked briefly to manu before pop’s decision. said elbow felt better but still didn’t have full range of motion.

That elbow injury, a sprain sustained in the Spurs’ regular season finale, is just one of the many maladies Ginobili’s had to deal with in recent years. But he’s been a fixture in the Spurs’ postseason success of the last decade, scoring at least 16.7 points per game in his six playoff runs since the 2004-05 season.

Ginobili missed the entire 2008-09 postseason due to injury.
